The distribution of rock types in the Geopark reflects this history. In the flatter eastern sections east of Tumbler Ridge, the rocks are flat lying and unfaulted, and are mainly upper Cretaceous sandstones and shales. Just west of Tumbler Ridge is the edge of the folded and faulted zone.
